After a difficult Oulton Park we had a new engine fitted, repairs to suspension & body panels all completed, now ready for our first night race including additional lighting.

For practise & qualifying conditions started damp but never really completely dry. This along with cold temperatures meant the focus was simply ensure both Daniel & David completed their ‘night familiarisation’ laps, job done. Sunday’s practise session was dry, both drivers getting good runs under their belts & the Team focused on set up trying to get the best from the tyres in still cool conditions.

Daniel started race but soon realised the engine was down on power, a quick pit stop as the crew found the fault, repaired it & sent him back out & back up to pace. Now the focus was to keep the lap times consistent, stay out of trouble & start to claw back time, he did this perfectly. Just before the hour the safety car was brought out for a large accident on the start line, we took advantage of change driver & refuel, Davey coming out of the pits still behind the safety car, perfect Team work.

As the fuel load reduced Davey was able to start bringing the lap times down with his consistent pace & getting as high as 16th position overall.

Coming up to the two hour mark the crew were ready for next pit stop, fuel & driver change. Suddenly the safety car is back on track, Davey did not come past the pits, we have crashed out. When we get the car back to pits it’s clear Davey picked up a sudden left front puncture, probably a consequence of the earlier accident causing him to come off at Paddock Hill bend. Davey all OK but significant damage to the car.

We left Brands with mixed emotions. Frustration that we did not finish the race, everything was looking good for a class win. However, progress was obvious from both our drivers & the car in the last few races. We finished our first season in Britcar 11th overall in the Championship & already plans are taking shape with significant developments to the car for next season.

Our thanks to everyone who popped in to the pits to say hello in 2016, your always welcome. Looking forward to 2017 already.
